Since Democrats took control of the House in 2018, I’ve been hard at work standing up for the lives of hard-working Iowans and Americans throughout the country on issues like affordable healthcare, quality education and fighting for our farmers.

While we’ve accomplished so much in the House, our colleagues in the Senate, led by Mitch McConnell, have been sitting on their hands, refusing to even hold hearings on legislation that would drastically improve the lives of millions of Iowans.

Since being elected to Congress, I’m proud to have stood up for Iowan families by:

• Voting to lower the cost of prescription drugs by bringing cheaper, safe generic drugs on the market.
• Voting to add skills training and trade school classes to make it easier for kids to get apprenticeships right out of high school.
• Introducing bi-partisan legislation to hold corporations accountable for shipping American jobs overseas.
• Supporting legislation to increase college affordability, including legislation to increase access to loan forgiveness programs and protect students from predatory loan practices.
• Passing legislation that increases affordable rental housing options.
• Reducing healthcare costs by maintaining protections for individuals with pre-existing conditions and preventing surprise medical billing.
• Leading on the creation and passage of a bill to support rural entrepreneurs.

We’ve accomplished so much already when it comes to delivering on pocketbook issues that improve Iowans’ daily lives. But unfortunately, because of Mitch McConnell, nobody knows when these policies will see the light of day.
