We're just a day away from our August fundraising deadline, and unfortunately, my fundraising team just let me know we're still $8,000 short of our goal.

I know you understand my need to be blunt: Democrats – including me – cannot fall short of big goals like these. Not this month, not the next – because if we do, our control of the Senate could be put in major jeopardy.

So, Friend, I need to ask you to make a donation. But before I do, let me give you just one significant example of why Democratic Senate control, at this moment, is so crucial.

Just recently, as a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I heard closed-door testimony from Donald Trump's former acting attorney general. It was chilling: He confirmed that Trump tried to exert presidential power and pressure to overturn the 2020 election. Because Democrats control the Judiciary Committee, I will be using the full force of our committee to reveal the full extent of Trump's wrongdoing – even if that opens the door to potential criminal charges for Trump.

Now, if Republicans were still in control, we know what they would do: Defend the former president, sweep his attacks on democracy under the rug, and embolden the extremist and authoritarian elements that have infested the Republican Party.

That very control – our ability to pursue justice and pass bold legislation that will improve the lives of everyday people – could vanish if Democrats lose just a single Senate seat. Here in my state, the political ground could be shifting: This month, Republicans flipped a state Senate red, the first GOP flip since President Biden was inaugurated. Now, we know why national Republicans have made my U.S. Senate seat a target – and Mitch McConnell will do whatever it takes to flip this seat, stop our progressive agenda, and cover up Donald Trump's grave abuse of his office.

So to be blunt once again, missing goals like this is not an option. Can I count on you to rush a contribution of $5 or more right now to fight back against GOP attacks and protect this Senate seat? Whatever you give will be instrumental in building up the resources it will take to protect Democratic Senate control.
