John,
When I stepped down as president of New American Leaders at the end of 2020, I left feeling deeply proud of our movement and hopeful for the future ahead of us. From school boards and city councils to Congress and even the White House, New Americans have laid the foundation for a new chapter in our democracy — one that represents the diversity, strengths, and experiences of our communities.
Now, it's time to begin this new chapter with a new leader for our movement.
After an extensive search, I am thrilled to share that the boards of both New American Leaders and New American Leaders Action Fund have unanimously and enthusiastically selected Ghida Dagher as our new president!
Ghida is the inclusive, compassionate, and visionary leader our movement needs. I had the privilege of meeting Ghida when she took one of our trainings in 2015; her extraordinary story and commitment led her to become a trainer for us, and a coach and mentor for countless other members of our movement across the country. She has also been a community organizer and nonprofit leader, and most recently served as the Director of Appointments for Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Regardless of her role, she has always led with integrity, a commitment to inclusivity, and a community-centered strategy. Her experiences and deep roots with our New American Leaders family make her the perfect fit for this role.

With Ghida's leadership and your continued support, I know that we will succeed in making our vision of a democracy that is of, for, and by all people a reality. Thank you for being a part of the NAL family and joining me in welcoming Ghida as our new president!
In solidarity,
Sayu Bhojwani
