John xxxxxx,
Congress returned to session last week. While I'm here in Washington working with my Democratic colleagues to get results for the American people, my heart and mind remain with everyone who calls the 8th District home. I had a great time connecting with neighbors and friends in our community during the August recess.
Growing up in Brooklyn gave me a first-class education in the power and richness of diversity. I also saw firsthand the social, economic, and criminal injustices that still plague far too many Americans.
I've worked my entire career to right those wrongs. Now, we're closer than ever to passing lasting reforms that tear down systemic oppression while advancing the American dream for all — thanks to the collaborative work of Democrats in Washington.
We're focused on governing because that's what we were elected to do. Meanwhile, Republicans are focused on marching to the former president's drum and undermining our democracy every step of the way. They're using their positions and the state legislative process to sow discord and disenfranchise voters instead of passing meaningful policy for the people who count on us all to lead.
There's little hope for bipartisanship when one party focuses more on misleading the public than on fighting for the people we serve, John xxxxxx. And if Democrats lose control of the House in 2022: Kevin McCarthy and Marjorie Taylor Greene will have a field day blocking everything we're fighting for right now.
I'm confident that by working together, we'll not only win my race but elect more Democrats to Congress next November. But first, I'm working hard to earn every vote across the 8th District and supporting my fellow House Democratic colleagues.
With so much progress on the line, we can't take a single seat for granted in 2022. So before our August fundraising deadline tomorrow, will you pitch in $10 or more to help House Democrats maintain our majority?
