America is Ready to Elect a Gun Safety President 🇺🇸
This week, Democratic presidential candidates took to the debate stage and expressed an urgency in addressing the epidemic of gun violence. We were elated to hear candidates share comprehensive policy solutions during Tuesday’s debate. In case you missed it, here's three key takeaways:
Sen. Warren underscored that “gun violence isn't just mass shootings," drawing reference to domestic violence and suicide.
Julían Castro named Atatiana Jeffferson, who last week was shot and killed by a police officer, and labeled police violence as gun violence.
Sen. Booker highlighted the impact of everyday gun violence in urban communities. He went a step further and discussed mass shootings in schools, calling for action to address the scourge of gun violence in our safest of places.
Tuesday’s debate was promising. But the fact remains: We can’t wait any longer for a change in the White House or Senate to end an epidemic that kills 100 people every single day. Help us demand Mitch McConnell pass common-sense gun legislation.

Gun Violence Prevention (GVP) Hero of the Week
We lost a true gun violence prevention champion and civil rights icon this week. On Thursday, Rep. Elijah Cummings passed away after ongoing health issues. From his earliest days in Congress, Rep. Cummings put party politics aside and made protecting our communities a priority. He took action, not sides, and reached across the aisle to combat gun trafficking and address gun violence impacting his Baltimore constituents. His voice of moral clarity and reason will truly be missed. Rest in power, Rep. Cummings. Click here to read more about his legacy.

Brady Quote of the Week 🎤
"From his earliest days in Congress, Americans could count on Rep. Cummings as a stalwart champion for gun safety. Time and again, our nation witnessed Rep. Cummings put party politics aside and made protecting our communities and future generations a priority. His voice of moral clarity and reason united our nation behind a common force and brought us closer to ending the epidemic of gun violence. The loss of Rep. Cummings has broken the heart of the gun violence prevention community, but we will always remember his legacy as a fighter for justice, equality, and fairness.”— Brady President Kris Brown on the passing of Rep. Cummings
