Dear Friend,

If you haven't yet had the chance to watch our latest video exposé, please do so right now.

An eyewitness found pigs with bloody sores, mother pigs so injured that they could barely move, and dead piglets teeming with maggots left to rot near their surviving siblings at East Fork Farms in Indiana—a veritable hell on Earth for these clever, social animals.

The eyewitness documented that mother pigs were nearly immobilized in crates barely bigger than their bodies, unable to comfort or tend to the piglets who slowly died just beyond their reach. Two pregnant pigs were even crammed together in one tiny prison cell!

Soon after piglets were born, workers cut off their tails without providing any pain relief—a standard practice in the industry—and some helpless animals were tossed through the air as they wailed and bled. Trampled or deformed piglets were simply left to writhe on the filthy floor.

Rats, roaches, maggots, and other insects had free run of the dilapidated sheds, and the waste-encrusted floors were littered with piglets' bloated bodies and decomposing heads and tails. Manure constantly oozed through the wooden slats of the floor from a reeking pit below. Some animals even fell into this brimming cesspool and became stranded, struggling desperately not to drown in a lake of excrement.

This dungeon-like "farm" supplied JBS USA—the nation's second-largest pig killer, whose products are sold by Kroger, Costco, and many other grocers—until PETA released this footage, prompting JBS to ban the farm from its supply chain. But if decades of powerful PETA exposés like this one have taught the public anything, it's that abuse, neglect, and appalling conditions are all standard practices whenever animals are raised and killed for their flesh.

That's why, from the moment we broke this case at a news conference near the JBS slaughterhouse that killed pigs who survived this farm, PETA has demanded that the company's brands stop spouting fairy tales about humane treatment of animals and investigate their suppliers firsthand. And most importantly, we're encouraging millions of consumers to see the individuals behind the bacon and go vegan.

Thank you for helping us spread compassion for pigs and all other animals.

Very truly yours,

Ingrid E. Newkirk
President

Fritz

A PETA fieldworker discovered Fritz confined to a crate without any food or water. The emaciated, matted little dog reeked of urine, an indication that he probably spent most, if not all, of his time inside the crate. After some discussion, his owner agreed to allow PETA to find him a new home.

After PETA provided Fritz with grooming, nutritious food, and treatment for parasites, he turned into a vibrant pup. His adopter says that his exuberance is irresistible to everyone he meets and that he carefully selects a souvenir leaf or stick during each walk to take back home with him.
