Dear Friend,
As you may have seen in the news, Hurricane Ida has made landfall in the Gulf Coast of the United States as a category 4 hurricane with sustained winds of 150 mph. Communities in its path will face life-threatening destruction from the high winds and flooding the storm is expected to bring. Louisiana is also facing a surge in COVID-19 cases, which are overwhelming health care systems.
I wanted you to know that we’re mobilizing our emergency response team to the Gulf Coast region to identify urgent health needs and prepare to provide care and support to the children and families impacted.
Hurricane Ida’s potentially devastating impact comes at a time when our resources are stretched thin. Our teams are on the ground providing lifesaving aid following the earthquake in Haiti and in recent COVID-19 hotspots like India, Nepal and Indonesia.
It’s thanks to you that Project HOPE is able to mobilize quickly in times of emergencies while we continue this important work around the world. I am deeply grateful for your support.
