John,
Few things surprise me anymore, but over the last few weeks we saw some absolutely astonishing statements by ultra right-wing members of Congress.
Mo Brooks once again lowered the bar for himself, putting out a tweet justifying the actions of a man threatening to bomb the U.S. Capitol. It’s not the first time Mo has sided with domestic terrorists, but to put out a statement like this — while the lives of so many were being actively threatened — is a new low.
Mo still hasn’t faced consequences for his role in inciting the violence that occurred at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, and he’s only gotten more brazen about his sympathies for domestic terrorists. Now other extremist members of Congress are following Mo’s lead, since there have yet to be consequences for any of this behavior.
That’s why I sued him after January 6, and that’s why I’m going to continue my fight for accountability for him and other Members who behave like this. Will you contribute before our end-of-month deadline to make sure I’m able to keep fighting back against these terrorist sympathizers?
Didn’t think it could get any worse? Here’s a tweet from GQP Rep. Lauren Boebert on the ongoing instability in Afghanistan:
It’s clear whose side these two are on. We know if Mo wasn’t in Congress on January 6 he would have been on the other side of the chamber with the violent mob. In fact, Lauren Boebert actually gave members of the violent mob a tour of the Capitol.
Since the GOP still faces no consequences for this abuse of power, I’m doing everything I can to make sure Mo and Lauren hear loud and clear that this type of behavior is unacceptable. Will you chip in before Tuesday’s deadline to make sure I can continue to hold terrorist sympathizers in Congress accountable?
