Documents related to the Michael Cohen investigation were released today, and they make one thing crystal clear: President Trump was significantly more involved in the Stormy Daniels hush money payments, which resulted in multiple campaign finance law violations, than previously known.

CREW will soon file multiple open records requests with the Department of Justice to learn more about the investigation, and we will not stop until the American people have the full story. We’ve been sounding the alarm about President Trump’s connections to the cover-up and hush money payments for more than a year. We’ve filed several complaints and requests for investigation, and earlier this year, we released a comprehensive report outlining the multiple crimes, including campaign finance violations, that President Trump appeared to have committed while campaigning and during his first year in office.

The documents released today demonstrate that CREW was right: President Trump repeatedly lied about his knowledge of the hush money payments, even as the FBI was filing search warrants that demonstrated his direct involvement. The documents demonstrate that throughout the entire discussion of the scheme, President Trump was repeatedly and directly involved. The president not only participated in an illegal cover-up, he has consistently lied to the American people.

CREW will not rest until all documents related to this investigation are public, and we will work to ensure President Trump is held responsible for his actions.
