It’s the end of August and kids are going back to school. Last weekend I donated supplies at the Back to School Fest in Hendersonville and we helped our son Calvin get ready to start a new year.
Seeing families all across Western North Carolina starting a new school year this past week reminded me of why I’m running for Congress.
I want a future where all of our kids can thrive -- whether it's pushing for universal Pre-K, making sure our schools are properly funded and teachers are paid a dignified wage for their hard work, or ensuring that every child is valued and respected no matter who they are or where they come from.
My vision for North Carolina families differs vastly from Republican Congressman Madison Cawthorn’s. Our campaign is built on hope, love and empathy. His is based on fear-mongering, extremist rhetoric, and spreading division.
Our children deserve to grow up in a community where their representatives put their education, safety, and well-being ahead of their own partisan agendas -- and that’s why I’m running for Congress.
