We brought a war to Afghanistan that has left countless Afghan people living in fear for their lives for the last 20 years.
Now, the Taliban, an evil force of violence, has increased its human rights abuses and destruction of Afghan civil society. We must hold ourselves accountable to the promises we made, especially to the most vulnerable Afghans who risked their lives for us.
Our country has a long history of resettling refugees so that they may rebuild new lives in safer conditions. We must immediately welcome and bring in more Afghan refugees to the United States.
