The bad news: We know that Democrats' extremely narrow majority in the House is at risk in next year's midterms. We also know that redistricting may jeopardize our chances of holding onto every blue district we currently hold.
The good news: Nonpartisan political forecasters at the Cook Political Report are forecasting that New York is the state best positioned to go on offense and flip seats from red to blue next year, which will be crucial to securing our majority in the House.
I know how hard so many of you worked in the 2018 and 2020 elections to secure the progress we are seeing today. With a Democratic Congress, people are getting back to work, families are seeing tax relief, and we're on the brink of passing long-overdue infrastructure investments.
The midterm elections are going to be here before we know it, and now is not the time to rest on our laurels, John. If we don't bring that same level of energy, dedication, and grassroots power to races as important as this one, all the progress we're seeing now could come to a screeching halt before we know it.
