Hello --
It's the 58th anniversary of the March on Washington, and today, thousands of people are gathering at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., to demand politicians protect and expand access to the ballot.
This protest is coming hot on the heels of the conservative Supreme Court upholding Arizona's racist voter restrictions. At the same time, at least 18 states have enacted stricter, un-democratic voting laws this year alone, and over 300 restrictive voting laws have been introduced in at least 49 states.
It's crucial leaders in D.C. hear our cries for justice and equality. Will you join us and the thousands of people protesting for voting rights today? Add your name ?
From criminalizing giving voters food and water while they wait in line to creating voter ID requirements and sharply limiting the use of ballot drop boxes, this assault on voting rights is a clear attempt to silence and disenfranchise Black voters.
This week, the House passed the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore the Voting Rights Act of 1965. But we can't take our foot off the gas -- not when so many politicians are determined to make it harder, instead of easier, for people to vote.
Will you add your name today to add your voice to the thousands of Americans calling for voter protections? Add your name to our petition today ?
Onward,
