Fellow Conservative,

The news coming out of Kabul these past few days has been horrifying. Like you, we have watched the chaos unfold with sadness and anger.

Thursday, August 26, 2021, was a heartbreaking day for America, as at least 13 American service-members and over a hundred civilians were murdered by terrorists in Kabul.

Our thoughts are with all devastated by the attack, but our thoughts are particularly with those who have received the dreaded news that they are now Gold Star families. Their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

We hope and pray for the safe return of our troops and our fellow American citizens still trapped behind enemy lines. Their safe return is the foremost responsibility of the Commander-in-Chief.

As we watch what is happening abroad, we must also remain focused on what is happening at home. This week, Nancy Pelosi passed a federal bill (H.R. 4) to undermine voter protections, such as voter ID.

H.R. 4 - The Pelosi Power Grab

On Tuesday this past week, the House passed H.R. 4 along strict party lines. Simply put, this bill will give unelected federal bureaucrats the power to veto states’ voter ID laws and make it easier to cheat in elections. Now it heads to the Senate, where we will work hard to stop this Pelosi Power Grab in its tracks.

The Texas legislature reconvened this week to hold a public hearing on S.B.1, a critical election integrity bill that will mandate voter ID for vote-by-mail and make Texas’ elections more secure.

Throughout the week, we have heard important testimonies reaffirming the need for election integrity measures in Texas and rejecting the ridiculous attacks from Democrats that this bill is ‘racist.’

On Thursday, the Texas House of Representatives voted 79-37 to pass S.B.1. Now, the bill will head to a conference committee where both chambers select members to sort out the differences between the House and Senate versions of S.B. 1.

Despite short lived opposition by a small group of so-called ‘moderate’ Democrats, the House passed Bernie Sanders’ $3.5 trillion budget resolution on Tuesday along party lines. The Senate passed the same budget resolution more than two weeks ago, also along party lines.

The budget resolution provides the framework for the Democrats’ radical spending agenda they’ll try to pass later this year. This $3.5 trillion blueprint will vastly expand the welfare state, institute disastrous Green New Deal policies, pave the way for mass amnesty, and will bury the next generation of young Americans in insurmountable debt.

As the budget reconciliation process continues in the coming months, we will work hard to prevent the Democrats from fundamentally transforming our country with their unprecedented spending spree.

Next week, the Senate and House are out of session, making it a quieter week on Capitol Hill. That being said, the House Armed Services Committee will undergo a markup for the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The NDAA authorizes the annual defense budget and is one of the most important duties of Congress.

The NDAA provides Congress the first opportunity to reject CRT and an opportunity to kick critical race theory out of our military. Legislators can add, as an amendment to the NDAA, The Combating Racist Training in the Military Act. We have endorsed this legislation and encourage all lawmakers to add their names as cosponsors.
