Dear John,
It's amazing that Congress has not yet made E-Verify mandatory for all U.S. employers. Huge majorities of Americans want it.
We need to get both parties to do more to reverse illegal immigration, if we're going to continue to help America's middle class rebound. Did you see our E-Verify TV ad during the Democratic Presidential Primary debates? It was viewed 9.4 million times. Click below to watch the ad!

Obviously, an ad like this costs a ton of money, but it was worth it, because it was the most-watched of all the ads that night. Voters have watched NumbersUSA ads over a billion times over the last few years. But if we're going to keep up our efforts to convince Washington and our nation's policy-makers, we need your help.
To show just how out-of-touch our elites have become, just read an article published by Reuters titled, "'Broken system' starves U.S. oil boom of immigrant workers."
"Broken," in the Reuters reporter's mind, doesn't refer to the millions of illegal aliens streaming over our borders. "Broken" means not enough illegal aliens and temporary foreign workers!
The article explains how the system is so "broken" that American workers are actually getting better wages! This would be hilarious, if it weren't so maddening!
You see, corporations across America are being forced -- finally! -- to attract American workers to take new jobs, rather than rely on importing poorly paid foreign workers. The poverty rate is the lowest it has been since 1973. And in the Permian Basin of Texas (America's biggest oil field), a lot of oil companies are finding they have to use E-Verify, and they're having to actually attract workers and even pay overtime. From the article:
"More companies are using the government's E-Verify immigration background checks to vet new hires, said Romano, whose organization helps immigrants get on a pathway to citizenship.
"'It's now getting very difficult here for anyone who isn't documented,' said Juan, an unemployed pipeline worker who immigrated to the United States illegally 11 years ago. He asked that his last name not be used to protect his identity."
Getting more difficult for illegal aliens to find jobs? Maybe the oil companies have to turn to -- gasp! -- American workers earning decent wages? Wonderful!
But a lot of businesses are avoiding E-Verify by hiring through subcontractors. We need to make E-Verify mandatory, so the cheats can't low-ball the honest, hard-working businesses.
Congress needs to make every employer use this free system. Did you know that half of all new hires in this country are already run through E-Verify? Many of the largest employers use it so they can do business with America's government. Others like it because it gives them the presumption of innocence if they use the system honestly.
But we need a law to get all the other employees using E-Verify. Traditionally, even many Democratic office-holders have supported E-Verify, but big-money interests donate to both parties to make sure nothing gets done.
If you want to help make sure all businesses use E-Verify, please donate today.

America's employment situation certainly is improving, but we still have a long way to go. The portion of working-age Americans who have jobs is still below pre-recession levels, let alone the levels reached in the late 1990s. Hourly wages, adjusted for inflation, are only now reaching the levels they were at before President Carter was elected.
Presidential candidates need to be talking about how to raise wages and how to provide jobs for Americans and legal immigrants! Unfortunately, cheap, imported labor means that over the next decade, half a trillion dollars will be redistributed annually from the working class to the very wealthy.
As you know, NumbersUSA has worked very hard for 23 years to:
Push Congress to make E-Verify mandatory for every U.S. employer, so illegal aliens can't steal jobs from those who deserve them;
Vastly improve border security and interior enforcement;
Stop chain migration;
End the ridiculous immigration visa lottery;
Reduce over-all immigration numbers;
End the practice of birthright citizenship.
Of course, all this takes money. It takes lots of funding to pay for millions of faxes and emails to Congress, to pay for the phone banks, to finance our lobbying on Capitol Hill.
We are your voice for immigration sanity in our nation's capital. Please help us.
