Friend,
Early this morning, the Texas House passed S.B. 1, one of the most extreme voter suppression bills to be introduced in any state legislature. It was a dark moment for democracy in Texas — but our fight is from over.
Ground Game Texas is working to transform Texas from the ground up — starting with our first local campaign in Austin. Since launching in June, we’ve received signatures from nearly 30,000 Austin voters in support of our first local ballot measure. (That’s 30,000 Austin voters we can now confirm registrations for and mobilize to the polls.)
Our plan is to take our winning formula (“workers, wages, and weed”) to city ballots all across Texas and mobilize a MASSIVE new wave of progressive voters, to counteract the efforts of the Texas GOP to silence our voices. But we can’t get this done without your help, friend.
To keep our work on track, we’re aiming to raise another $8,000 in grassroots donations before the end of August. Friend, will you be one of the donors who helps us reach our critical end-of-month goal? [[link removed]]

We founded Ground Game Texas because we need an all-hands-on-deck approach that prioritizes local campaigns, winning issues, and in-person organizing. We need to knock doors all year long, not just in the months before a presidential election. We need to go on offense, fighting for popular, progressive policies that actually motivate people to vote.
Despite Gov. Greg Abbott and Texas Republicans’ best efforts to silence the people, Texas is on the verge of political transformation. We’ve seen it happen in states like Georgia, which now has the highest voter registration rate of all 50 states. But that transformation won’t happen unless we actually put in the work.
Please chip in $5, $20 or any amount you can to help us reach our $8,000 August goal. Every dollar will go straight toward our organizing on the ground in Austin and expanding to dozens more cities and communities across Texas. [[link removed]]
Thank you for showing your support,
Julie Oliver
