Yesterday, the Supreme Court voted to end the eviction moratorium —
effectively putting millions of families at risk of being evicted from
their homes even as the pandemic continues to wreak havoc on our country.

Across the country, our unhoused neighbors are at more risk of assault,
hunger, mental illness, and at a higher risk of contracting or dying from
COVID-19. Thousands of people have already been forcibly removed from
their homes. It's blatantly clear that this decision, led by a
Republican-packed Supreme Court, will put millions of more people in
danger.

John, it's
crucial that we all keep the pressure on our elected officials to provide
the solutions that truly meet the scale and scope of the issues our
communities face. [ [link removed] ]We must take immediate legislative steps to extend
the eviction moratorium and solve the impending crisis created by this

Earlier this month, I joined Rep. Cori Bush in a powerful demonstration of
grassroots advocacy to extend the eviction moratorium. Together we stood
outside of the Capitol with dozens of activists and supporters to demand
justice for the millions of families who were at risk of losing their
homes.

In the end, our grassroots movement for change was able to gain the
support of the White House to enact a temporary eviction moratorium for
our communities experiencing higher rates of COVID-19 transmission.

Yet just 23 days later, the Republican-packed Supreme Court decided that
corporate and political interests are more important than the safety and
security of our communities.

John, we all
must take steps, as a Congress and as a community, to transform a system
that puts profit over keeping our people safe and sheltered. [ [link removed] ]Extending
