Dear Friend,
On September 14, California will be conducting a recall election. Below is important information about your ballot and polling locations. I urge you to vote in this important election. Click this link to learn more from the California Secretary of State.
- All California active registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot. County elections officials will have mailed ballots by August 16, 2021.
- The recall ballot asks two questions:
1) Do you want to recall Governor Newsom?
2) If the governor is recalled, who do you want to replace him?
- If 50% or more vote NO, the governor would remain in office.
- If more than 50% vote YES, the governor would be removed from office and the person with the most votes would replace him.
- Voters can vote on either one or both parts of the recall ballot.
- Return your vote-by-mail ballot by mail with prepaid postage (It must be postmarked by September 14, 2021) or in-person, to a secure ballot drop box, to a voting location or to the county elections office by 8:00 p.m. on September 14, 2021.
Voters can track the mailing of their Vote by Mail ballot with this link to Where's My Ballot.
Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean C. Logan encouraged voters to return their mail-in ballot early. There are several safe return options available:
- Return by mail, no postage required; must be postmarked by Election Day;
- Drop off at a ballot drop box; all drop boxes will be open by Aug. 16; or
- Drop off at a Vote Center.
Locations can be found here at www.lavote.net.
In-person voting locations will offer voter registration, replacement ballots, accessible voting machines, and language assistance to those who need it beginning Saturday, September 4.
Again, this election will determine who our governor will be through 2022 and will cost the state of California $276 million, according to the State Finance Department. I strongly urge you to participate.
Sincerely,
Jimmy Gomez
