Prime Minister Bennett was in Washington this week and met today with President Biden. The meeting showcased the close and enduring relationship between the United States and Israel.
President Biden underscored America’s commitment to Israel's security, replenishing Israel's Iron Dome, ensuring Iran never gets a nuclear weapon, advancing peace between Israel and its Arab neighbors, and admitting Israel into the U.S. visa waiver program.
Prime Minister Bennett conveyed Israel’s appreciation for America’s outspoken support and security assistance.
"Israel has to be strong in order to do good," said the prime minister. "We can't lose sight for a moment of the fact we are in the toughest neighborhood in the world. Many of our neighbors want to kill us and this is why we have to be stronger than all of our enemies combined."
Earlier this week, Prime Minister Bennett met with Secretary of State Blinken and Secretary of Defense Austin and spoke with House Speaker Pelosi, House Majority Leader Hoyer and Senate Republican Leader McConnell.
The prime minister's first meeting was with AIPAC and he publicly thanked the organization for our work to strengthen and expand the U.S.-Israel relationship.
Below are more key news items from the week.
Sincerely,
Brian Shankman

AIPAC’S AUGUST FUNDRAISING ENDS IN 4 DAYS
Your member support by this deadline will help provide the resources AIPAC needs to engage Congress on issues vital to Israel’s safety.
Iran is a comprehensive threat that requires a comprehensive solution.
The latest: Iran has resumed fuel exports to Afghanistan following a request from the Taliban.
Also this week: Leaked footage of Iran's notorious Evin prison reflects what daily life looks like in Iran—beatings, executions and brutality.
Between the lines: We should expect more of the same under Iran's new government, which offers no prospect for moderation and cements Iran's extremist positions.
Iran's new government—stacked with terrorists and human rights violators—is the most sanctioned and wanted presidential administration in Iran's history.
On Wednesday, President Raisi appointed former Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps leader Mohsen Rezaei to serve as his vice president for economic affairs. Rezaei, along with Iran's interior minister, is wanted for his involvement in the 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish center in Buenos Aires.
The big picture: While America and Israel stand together against terrorism, the Iranian regime continues to stand with terrorist groups like the Taliban.
Palestinian Terrorists in Gaza Escalates Violence While Israel Furthers Relief Measures for Gaza READ MORE
Over the last week, Palestinian terrorists in Gaza have escalated their attacks on Israel.
Hamas launched waves of fire bombsinto southern Israel this week to cause economic, ecological and environmental damage.
On Saturday, terrorists held a violent demonstration along the border Israel-Gaza border fence, shooting an Israeli border security officer through a hole in the barrier.
Hamas also sent young children to the riots along the border, outfitting them with military equipment.
Despite this, on Wednesday, Israel expanded the entry of goods and equipment for international civilian projects in Gaza through the Kerem Shalom Crossing.
The big picture: Hamas cares more about destroying Israel than investing in a better future for Palestinians.
The Palestinian Authority (PA) is stepping up its violent suppression of critics and political rivals.
The latest: Palestinian police have cracked down on protesters, arresting 24 people on Saturday who were planning to protest the government.
What are they protesting? The death of prominent political activist Nizar Banat while in the custody of Palestinian security forces, which the PA has tried to cover up.
Banat was an outspoken critic of the PA.
Palestinian human-rights advocates, lawyers and political activists responded in a joint statement:
"The continuing crackdown on public freedoms shows that the Palestinian leadership is nervous and does not want to hear about democracy and freedom of expression."
The mission of AIPAC is to encourage and persuade the U.S. government to enact specific policies that create a strong, enduring and mutually beneficial relationship with our ally Israel.
