[1]Cori Bush

We will not give up,
John.

News just broke late last night that the Supreme Court blocked President
Biden's order to extend the eviction moratorium.

It’s shameful. Earlier this month, Cori slept outside the Capitol to
demand the extension of the eviction moratorium and justice for the
millions of families who were at risk to be forcibly removed from their
homes — in the middle of a worsening pandemic.

We were out there for five days. Rain. Heat. Cold. Together, we moved the
Biden administration to order an extension of the eviction moratorium. If
they think this partisan ruling is going to stop us from fighting to keep
people housed, they’re wrong.

Congress needs to act immediately for every unhoused or soon to be
unhoused person in our districts. [ [link removed] ]Will you sign our petition so we can
send a loud message to Congress that we will not rest until justice is
delivered for every unhoused person in this country?

Before Cori came to Congress, there was a period in her life where she was
unhoused and living in a car with her two babies. During this time, she
saw up close how unhoused people are criminalized, rather than cared for
and treated with the dignity that they deserve. That’s why this work is
personal for Cori.

Cori knows that there’s so many others facing the challenges she herself
went through. It’s estimated that over 550,000 people are currently
unhoused in the United States. This crisis has only been exacerbated by
the COVID pandemic – putting millions of families at risk of being evicted
from their homes.

But this recent Supreme Court ruling has made it clear that it’s going to
be an uphill battle to make sure our government refuses to allow any of us
to go without shelter, especially during a public health crisis.

If you agree that housing is health care, and it is a fundamental right
that should be guaranteed to all, [ [link removed] ]please add your name to our petition
calling on Congress to act IMMEDIATELY and extend the eviction moratorium
by any means possible.

Team Cori
