In case you missed it, team:
Attorney General Josh Stein is co-leading a bipartisan coalition of 31 attorneys general urging the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to rein in practices of the e-cigarette industry that are harming our nation’s youth.
After filing the first state lawsuit against e-cigarette company JUUL for its aggressive marketing tactics toward young people and misleading the public about the dangers of nicotine in their products, Josh and his office won major reforms from Juul and secured $40 million to address teen nicotine addiction in our state.
But this problem is larger than any one company.
That’s why Josh is continuing the fight to protect young people all across the country from nicotine addiction. Now, he’s calling on the FDA to deny all marketing applications for products with high levels of nicotine and that do not have built in marketing and sales protections for teens.
Research shows that nicotine has harmful effects on an adolescent’s developing brain, leads to addiction, and can cause mental health and behavioral challenges. That’s why it’s more important than ever to hold the e-cigarette industry accountable for their actions.
Thanks to the support of folks like you, North Carolina was the first state to successfully hold JUUL accountable. With your help, Josh can take this effort even further.
Stand with Josh in his next fight to urge the FDA to crack down on the e-cigarette industry’s harmful marketing tactics to young people. Sign your name if you agree that the FDA must rein in the e-cigarette industry: [[link removed]]
