John,

One hundred-one years ago this week, the 19th Amendment was adopted after decades of marching, advocating, organizing, and fighting for suffrage.

The progress we've made toward equality since then is tremendous. Right now, over a quarter of the Members of Congress are women, a woman is serving as Vice President for the first time ever, and a record number of women are running for office nationwide. Each year, we get closer and closer to breaking the glass ceiling; and women continue to lead in science, arts, medicine, and sports.

But the unequal application of our laws has negatively impacted the progress of marginalized groups and communities of color, including women of color. Black suffragettes, like Ida B. Wells, Mary Ann Shadd Cary, and Mary Church Terrell, helped pass the 19th Amendment. Yet, their communities still couldn't vote.

It wasn't until 1965, when the Voting Rights Act (VRA) passed, that all Americans actually secured their voting rights. Now, with Republicans nationwide passing a record number of voter suppression laws, the suffragettes and Civil Rights-era freedom fighters' work is at risk.

Diana recognizes that the assaults on our rights disproportionately impact vulnerable groups, including women of color. And they compromise the ongoing fight for equality. That's why earlier this week, she voted to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to restore key provisions of the VRA. Now, she's working on getting it to the President's desk.

It's been 101 years since the first women in our country became eligible to vote. The fight for freedom for all, regardless of gender, race, zip code, sexuality, and religion, isn't over, so Diana needs your support.

Will you rush a donation so Diana can keep fighting? Anything you can chip in ahead of the August end-of-month deadline goes a long way >> [link removed]
