John,
Earlier this month, Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville introduced an amendment to the Senate budget resolution that would eliminate federal funding for local governments that defund the police. And
every single Senate Democrat voted alongside Republicans.
The worst part? 1 of the 2 Black Democratic Senators, Sen. Cory Booker called this amendment “a gift” that would let Democrats “put to bed this scurrilous accusation that somebody in this great esteemed body would want to defund the police.”
After all the hard work we did -- after we made countless strides to combat voter suppression and show up in record numbers to the polls to elect the very people in office --
every senator decided that this was okay.
Well guess what? It's not. And it never will be. Defunding the police means funding our communities and investing in Black futures so that Black people can thrive -- not just merely survive. It means investing in new ideas for public safety that come from the community itself.
John, this means we have to work twice as hard now as we gear up for elections on all levels of government -- because the power lies with us, not a bunch of legislators just trying to keep their titles.
If we work together now to pool our resources, we can rally and reach voters while backing leaders truly dedicated to Black liberation -- not just the ones who pretend they do when it's convenient. If you're able, can you chip in $5 or whatever you can toward BLM PAC's end-of-month fundraiser?

It's no secret that Congress is overwhelmingly white. It's also no secret that many legislators are beholden to SuperPACs and special interest groups --
not beholden to the people.
We're going to change that, John. Nothing can stop the strength of our people-power, and our strive to make real, sustainable change that has an everlasting impact on Black people across the entire country.
In order to do so, we need all hands on deck. Having a big impact on elections comes with major preparation. It's
exactly why we're working so hard to reach our end-of-month fundraising goal -- so we can gear up to back candidates dedicated to Black liberation, all while hosting GOTV events and reaching out to voters everywhere.
So what do you say John? Can you help fuel our efforts by chipping into our end-of-month fundraiser? Take it a step further and become a recurring donor!
Let's make history just like we did in the 2020 election -- and this time, let's go bigger.
In love and solidarity,
Black Lives Matter PAC
