John — Yesterday was Women’s Equality Day!

The holiday marks the passing of the 19th amendment. Upon its passage in 1920, women were granted the right to vote, and in honor of this historic amendment, Congress, in 1973, designated August 26th Women's Equality Day.

When I was first elected in 2018, I came to Congress with a historic freshman class. Our group of new members included more women than ever before. Now, some of my closest friends are other women who joined me in Congress in 2018!

Since then, the number of women in Congress has increased — 143 women now serve in the U.S. Congress.

But in celebrating Women’s Equality Day, I also remember the amazing women who paved the way for women’s rights and the pursuit of equality.

I hope that in honor of this holiday, you’ll consider contributing to my campaign. Each day as I work to advance women’s rights, I am grateful for the women who came before me, and I’m excited to see who comes after me!
