Welcome to the August edition of the #BadFaithMedicine Breakdown! In it we chronicle our recent activities to call out anti-abortion fake clinics and their efforts to push #BadFaithMedicine.
Event Alert!
If you’re in the Washington, D.C. area, join us on Thursday September 9, from 6-7pm in front of the Supreme Court for a self-managed abortion teach-in! Make sure to fill out this form and let us know if you’re coming! Masks are required.
If you have been following Reproaction over the years and in this email series, you know that Care Net’s treatment of people who seek abortion is far from caring. From spreading shame and misinformation to people seeking abortion care and disguising racism and stereotypes about Black women’s reproductive decisions as concern for the Black community, Care Net is no stranger to causing pain in people’s lives. Last summer, we took Care Net to task when they were hosting an in-person event as COVID continued to spread at a rapid pace. Now, they are doing it again.
That’s right, last year Care Net staff and supporters were meeting indoors in Florida as cases soared and death rates rose, and they chose a new COVID-19 hot spot for this year’s conference: San Antonio, Texas. [1]
With Texas hospital patients being shipped to other states because of clogged hospitals back home, [2] a ‘pro-life’ group is meeting in person there to share tips on how to better mislead and stigmatize pregnant people for choosing abortion.
That is all for this month’s edition of the breakdown. Make sure to check out the #BadFaithMedicine Campaign page to stay updated on all things #BadFaithMedicine!
