Friends,

Those of us who served in war know what it is like to lose our fellow troops. We know how much anguish it inflicts on families.

What those we lost were doing was heroic. Afghans are waking up in other, safer countries today, with the light of a new life ahead of them, because of the efforts of our troops. Americans are arriving home safely, because of the efforts of our troops.

Our fellow servicemembers gave everything to get these people to safety. Now, we need to finish the mission.

Will you make a contribution to support efforts to resettle Afghan families in the United States? Your donation will be given to the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, which provides food, housing, and a warm welcome to Afghan refugees as they get their feet under them in America.

We’ve raised over $60,000 for resettlement efforts so far, but we believe this veteran community will rise to the occasion and do even more for these refugees.

This is the best way we have to honor the sacrifice of the servicemembers we lost yesterday in Kabul.
