John,
If you're wondering if I'm emailing to ask if you'll pitch in today toward our end-of-month goal, the answer is yes. But before I do that, I want you to hear straight from me why I’m in this race for the U.S. Senate.
I’m running for the patients I worked with for more than 20 years who I could only help so much as their doctor.
For the single mom I cared for who had to take two buses to get to the grocery store.
For the kid with asthma who can’t play outside because of the air pollution.
And for the factory worker who deserves fair wages and the right to organize for a safer, healthier workplace.
I’m running because I honestly believe that with determination and hard work, we can get real results in Washington to make life better for our workers and families — from raising wages and protecting your right to vote, to rebuilding infrastructure and creating good-paying union jobs at the same time.
I know I can deliver results because for the last six years I’ve been doing just that. I’ve gone to the mat to guarantee a $15 an hour minimum wage and paid parental leave for county employees, built one of the strongest economies in Pennsylvania, repaired crucial infrastructure, and put the county’s buildings on track to transition to 100% renewable energy by 2050.
So here’s this doctor’s diagnosis. Our country needs real action on these issues, and it’s more important than ever that we do all we can to deliver lasting results for our workers and families.
That’s why we need to flip this Senate seat and put it to work for Americans right away. Republicans have raised millions to try to hold this seat and take back the Senate majority, but we can’t let them get in the way of the progress we’ve made and all that’s to come.
I talk a lot about how this is a grassroots campaign. That isn’t a buzz word to me. It means we count on people like you to power this campaign. I refuse to accept a dime from corporate PACs, because my priority is serving workers and families.
The number of supporters we have matters just as much as the amount we raise, and I know we can build a winning campaign with this grassroots team behind us. We’re up against our end-of-month goal in just a few days, and we’re counting on folks like you to pitch in to help us get one step closer to our goal of 1,500 new contributions. So I’m asking you personally, John:
Will you pitch in with a grassroots donation of any amount so we can meet our goal? If everyone reading this email donates, we’ll reach it in no time.

Your support means a lot to me. Thank you for being such an important part of our campaign.
With gratitude,
Val
