It all started with a simple but big idea:
“Show the world the baby!”
That was the message I shared with our Focus team back in 2019, when we made the decision to perform a live ultrasound of a pre-born baby in the middle of New York City’s Times Square.

Colorado School Board Bans Critical Race Theory After Black Father’s Impassioned Speech
By: Jeff Johnston
“I can think of nothing more damaging to a society than to tell a baby born today, that she has grievances against another baby born today, simply because of what their ancestors may have done two centuries ago. There is simply no point in doing that to our children.”
Those words come from a short speech from Derrick Wilburn, a Colorado father who spoke in favor of a resolution banning the teaching of Critical Race Theory (CRT) in District 49, in Falcon, a community northeast of Colorado Springs.
In a YouTube video that’s been seen by more than 410,000 viewers, Wilburn explained some of his family background: “I am the direct descendant of the North American slave trade. Both my parents are black; all four of my grandparents are black; all eight of my great grandparents; all 16 of my great greats. On my mother’s side, my ancestors were enslaved in Alabama. On my father’s side, we were enslaved in Texas.”
Wilburn then went on to emphatically state, “I am not oppressed. I am not oppressed, and I’m not a victim.”

Glenn Beck’s Audience Donates Over $20 Million to Rescue Christians in Afghanistan
By: Zachary Mettler
Conservative talk show host Glenn Beck recently asked his audience to “give until it hurts” and donate money to help rescue thousands of Christians from Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. Now, his audience has stepped up in a massive way.
On Wednesday, Beck introduced his audience to The Nazarene Fund, a charity that he founded and now sits on the board of.
The organization works “to liberate the captive, to free the enslaved, and to rescue, rebuild and restore the lives of Christians and other persecuted religious and ethnic minorities wherever and whenever they are in need.”
According to The Blaze, the organization is preparing “to extract approximately 5,000 people, mostly women and children, out of Afghanistan before it is too late.” Beck said that these people are “Christians that are marked for death … there was a notice from the Taliban that any of these [Christian] people will be burned alive.”
To acquire the aircraft and support the teams needed for the rescue, Beck set the almost “impossible” goal of raising $20 million in two days.

Homeschooling Surged in 2020-2021 — Will the Trend Continue?
By: Jeff Johnston
The U.S. Census Bureau (USCB) released numbers showing a huge uptick in homeschooling during the 2020-2021 school year. Since about 2012, the homeschooling rate had held steady at about 3.3%.
But in April of 2020, that number grew to 5.4% of U.S. households reporting homeschooling, according to the USCB’s Household Pulse Survey. In September of that same year, that number increased to 11.1%. The survey added a clarification at that point, to make sure parents “were reporting true homeschooling rather than virtual learning through a public or private school.”
The Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) reported that the percentage jumped even higher in May of 2021, to 19.5%. In response to the high demand for help with homeschooling, HSLDA created a website,

The survey showed that rates increased across all racial groups and ethnicities. Among black households, for example, the numbers increased from 3.3% to 16.1%. States that saw the largest percentage increases include Alaska, with 17.9%; Florida, up 13.1%; Vermont, with a 12.8% increase; and Oklahoma, up 12.4%.

Governor Kristi Noem Appeals Court Ruling That Blocked South Dakota Pro-Life Law
By: Zachary Mettler
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem just announced that she will appeal a judge’s ruling that blocked a pro-life law from taking effect in her state.
South Dakota’s law contains a provision that requires pregnant women to consult with a pregnancy help center prior to getting an abortion, so that she has “all facts available, before deciding whether to abort her unborn child.”
The bill had been enjoined by a federal district judge, preventing it from taking effect as legal proceedings play out. Last Friday, the judge decided to keep the injunction in place, leading to this most recent announcement from Gov. Noem.
“All life is precious. Mothers should have the opportunity to hear all relevant information before they are faced with the ‘choice’ of whether to end their unborn child’s life,” said Gov. Noem in announcing the appeal.
“I look forward to the day when all life — born and unborn — is protected by law. Given that the US Supreme Court will soon decide on the constitutionality of prohibiting abortion before ‘viability,’ we are asking the 8th Circuit to recognize that the people’s legislators should have the ability to pass pro-life laws.”
