Action Alert

This week the House Public Education committee held a 20-hour hearing on the Save Women’s Sports Bill, SB 2. There was overwhelming support for SB 2 at the hearing, and the state UIL leader testimony made it clear there is a problem on this issue and that it is growing, with their office receiving more and more calls.

The bill was left pending in committee and now sits idle with only a few days left in the Special Session. A few of the House Public Education members expressed that they would prefer the bill be reduced to a study of biological males competing in female sports.

It is unacceptable for this bill to die in committee or be reduced to a study that does nothing to keep biological males out of female sports!  We need you to urge the House Public Education committee to act and move SB 2 onto the floor for a vote.

A bill to protect female sports has been presented each special session. During the regular session, Representative Valoree Swanson filed HB 1458 that would have protected female athletics at both the UIL and collegiate level. Our state needs to pass a bill that includes college sports. While SB 2 only includes UIL sports, the House still needs to pass common sense legislation on this issue now!

Please contact members of the Texas House Public Education committee and urge them to vote SB 2 out of committee as soon as possible. Let them know that a mere study on biological men competing in female sports is unacceptable.
