You’ve heard of the $6 for IL-06 ask, but let me introduce you to the $5 for 5 days until the end of August fundraising gimmick!

I know these fundraising ploys are silly, and this one might not have the same ring to it as $6 for IL-06, but I’m hoping the amusing subject line will at least get folks to open this email so I can explain the more serious issues at hand:

- We’ve done irreparable damage to our planet, and we need to take immediate, bold action to prevent further harm. I’m a leading voice in the House for climate action, but my seat is also a top target for national Republicans beholden to special interests like the fossil fuel industry.

- Republicans are favored to take back the House in 2022. If this happens, we can say goodbye to any meaningful progress on climate change, expanding affordable healthcare for all, and safeguarding our democracy.

- I have another crucial FEC reporting deadline next month, and I need my fundraising numbers to show that we have the grassroots power to keep IL-06 blue.

Believe me when I say that, while a $5 donation may not seem significant, a few $5 donations from a few folks over the course of my campaign will make all the difference come Election Day in 2022.

So, will you play along with my $5 for 5 ask and chip in $5 -- just $1 per day until the deadline -- or more?
