John,
The House has approved the Senate's $3.5 trillion investment plan. But the work in Congress to pass this historic investment package is far from over!
Now, House leaders have issued a Sept. 15 deadline to assemble final legislation that would be ready for floor action with the goal of passing the measure by the end of September.1
Did you see the email from Deborah about what we have already accomplished in Congress, and how the next month is critical to enacting our human needs agenda? Read her email below and then chip in to remind Congress we must go BIG and bold—and that we can afford it when the rich and corporations finally pay their fair share.
Remember, budgets are about priorities. And we have a fundamental choice: Invest in human needs—or continue to fall short. This truly is an historic opportunity to pass the most critical investments for health care, housing, child well-being and care, and paid leave since the New Deal.
We must get these essential investments passed. Thank you for all you do to demand accountability from our political leaders and to fight for our shared priorities.

--DEBORAH'S EMAIL--
John,
The U.S. House returned to Washington and in a close 220-212 vote, advanced a historic $3.5 trillion budget blueprint that makes essential investments in people, families and communities. Our work is not done, however.
This resolution sets the stage to create the final legislation, which is now underway.
Corporate lobbyists will be working overtime to pressure members of Congress. They are going to be fighting to keep their tax loopholes in place. We need to counter that with our own massive grassroots lobbying effort. Can you chip in $5 or more to CHN today to demand Congress be bold and fight to implement President Biden’s Build Back Better investment agenda—paid for by ensuring the rich and corporations pay their fair share?
DONATE
The Coalition on Human Needs has worked to make sure members of Congress understand how important this budget is. Just this week, we flooded Representatives’ offices with letters to demand action. Thanks to your hard work, we helped push this budget framework through the House!
This budget would enable sweeping investments in affordable health care, education, housing, nutrition and more. But, since moderate Democrats in the House and Senate want every investment fully paid for, we can only invest as much money as we raise. That means Congress must be bold in demanding the rich and corporations start paying their fair share.
Donate $5 or more today to demand Congress pass a historic $3.5 trillion budget to invest in our future.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your secure donation will go through immediately:
In the coming weeks, moderate members of Congress will talk about "the size of the package as being too large" without getting into specifics on whether they would cut child care, housing, higher education, clean energy, or child tax credits—which are already making historic progress lifting families from poverty.
Senator Joe Manchin, a critical vote in the Senate, said he has "serious concerns" about the spending level of this budget.1 Senator Kyrsten Sinema, also said she won't vote for a $3.5 trillion budget.2
We have to remind them that this is an historic opportunity to pass the most critical investments in health care, housing, child care, and paid leave since the New Deal. And we must remind them that we CAN afford these essential investments when we finally ask corporations and the wealthy to pay their fair share.
Let's make sure Congress stands firm! Donate $5 today to demand Congress invest in working families and our future—paid for by making the rich and corporations pay their fair share.
This is a fight we can win! We must get these essential investments passed. Thank you for all you do to demand accountability from our political leaders and to fight for the needs of working families, the vulnerable, the sick and the poor.
