As seen on the news...
Farm Sanctuary rescues runaway cows

June B. Free and Susan took their survival into their own hands. These two were part of the herd of 40 cows who escaped from a slaughterhouse in Los Angeles this summer, as witnessed by millions on local news stations.
Sadly, most of the herd was captured and sent right back to slaughter. But this distressing ordeal-which included a chase from ranchers and police on horseback-at least had a happy ending for the two survivors. June B. Free evaded capture for a few days; Susan remained on the run for a week. With people across the country cheering the cows on, the slaughterhouse agreed to release June B. Free and then Susan into the care of Farm Sanctuary.
The care provided to all the animals at Farm Sanctuary is only made possible by generous supporters like you. Please be a hero for June B. Free, Susan, and so many other farm animals who need your support by joining Farm Sanctuary with a generous gift today.

Slaughterhouses view cows like June B. Free and Susan as commodities. But with your support, Farm Sanctuary will continue to ensure these animals are treated like the sentient individuals they are.
Cows are intelligent, playful, and nurturing. They care for sick and injured members of their herd and form strong emotional bonds-not only between a mother and her calf, but between friends. These relationships can last a lifetime.
Thanks to you, June B. Free and Susan are starting to bond-and they'll soon have the chance to meet others in the herd. Now, instead of waking up to the sounds and smells of a slaughterhouse, these two cows will know the peace and freedom of Sanctuary.
Help Farm Sanctuary stay prepared for crucial rescues like these by joining us with your generous gift today.
