MEET EMERGE SOUTH CAROLINA ALUM TAMEIKA ISAAC DEVINE!

Tameika joined our Emerge sisterhood in 2020. She’s already achieved some incredible firsts. Elected in 2002, Tameika is the first African-American woman to serve on the Columbia City Council and the first African-American to be elected at-large.

Now she’s poised to make history as the first woman mayor of Columbia, South Carolina. And we want you all to meet her!

Follow us on Twitter at @EmergeAmerica – and then tune in TODAY from 11:00 a.m to 6:30 p.m. ET for Tameika Isaac Devine’s #EmergeTakeover!

Tameika is known as the councilwoman who listens. Born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, Tameika is closely attuned to what’s happening in her community and cares deeply about the issues impacting them the most. She’s already doing amazing work to help ensure financial stability for all.

But she doesn’t stop there. Tameika has an open-door policy – regularly meeting with community members and holding monthly open-house meetings to stay in close touch with community concerns. We’re so excited that she’s running for mayor and we can’t wait to see what she has in store.

Remember to join us on Twitter TODAY for Tameika Isaac Devine’s #EmergeTakeover – and follow us to stay up-to-date on future alum takeovers and additional Emerge news!

Emerge is a national organization working to recruit, train, and get Democratic women elected across the country, and we are so grateful to have you on our team. Our alums are strong voices for Democratic values — and they are running up and down the ballot to fight for working families. They are fighting for critical issues that affect our communities, such as the environment, accessible and affordable health care, social justice, and education equity. We need more alums fighting for us across the country.

You may notice that we send a lot of emails asking for your support — that’s because we win when everyone does what they can to help. Our organization depends on thousands of actual people who care about our democracy and want to see positive change in our communities and across our country by building power through investing in Democratic women. If you’d like to donate, click here.
