The findings of a brand new Fraser Institute study out today go against a popular Canadian narrative.

A common misperception is that education spending has been cut in recent years. But in fact, education spending on public schools across Canada increased over the most recent five-year period of available data.

Not only that, but the spending increase went far beyond what was required to account for enrolment changes and inflation.

What's more, the study finds that compensation – salaries, wages, fringe benefits, and pensions – contributed the most to the total growth in spending nationally.
