Take action: The EPA should do its job!

The EPA must both inform Americans about chemicals and to protect us from those that are dangerous.

Tell the EPA: Do your job, and protect the American public!

Dear John,

As Americans, we have the right and responsibility to hold our government accountable — including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

And right now, we must speak up — because the EPA is considering a dramatic rollback of the chemical safety data it collects from manufacturers. This would significantly hamper the EPA's ability both to inform the American public about chemicals in our everyday products and to protect us from those that are hazardous.

Tell the EPA: Don’t put us back in the dark. Americans have the right to know about the potentially hazardous substances we may be exposed to every day.

Take action today

What the EPA is considering rolling back its Chemical Data Reporting system. Currently, it's the only way we can understand which chemicals are domestically produced or imported into the country, by what companies, in what amounts and, critically, for what uses.

Worryingly, some chemicals found in everyday products are increasingly linked to cancer, infertility, diabetes, Parkinson's disease and other illnesses. Our air and water are also commonly contaminated by toxic chemicals. But what may be even more cause for concern is that many thousands of others haven’t been reviewed for safety. The EPA must start with collecting basic safety information on these chemicals and sharing it with the public.

We have a fundamental right to know about potentially dangerous chemicals in the products we use every day.

This proposed rollback would not only be a direct blow to the public’s right to know — it would also hamper the EPA’s ability to protect the health of our families. Tell the EPA today: Do your job — inform and protect the American people.
