![]() Dear John,
Greetings from FRC Action!
Normally Congress takes a summer recess during August, but congressional Democrats are continuing their aggressive push to reshape state elections laws. The House of Representatives just voted 219-212 to pass H.R. 4., a sweeping federal take-over that threatens pro-life gains in the states. Contact your senators to encourage them to vote against this bill.
In the past decade, state Republican officials have enacted as many pro-life laws as the prior 37 years since Roe v. Wade. H.R. 4 would set the precedent for the federal government to veto future pro-life laws.
Pitched as a “compromise” to the Corrupt Politicians Act (H.R. 1/S.1), H.R. 4 still constitutes a sweeping federal takeover of state election laws. It attempts to resurrect an unconstitutional provision in the Voting Rights Act of 1965 that required state voting laws to be “precleared” by the federal government before they can go into effect.
The bill now heads to the Senate, where a second vote on S.1 is already scheduled for the fall calendar. Please take a moment to tell Delegate Norton what you think about the vote on H.R. 4, and to encourage your senators to vote against any legislation that damages election integrity or quashes pro-life and pro-family laws in the states.
Sincerely, |
