Dear John,
The historic push to expand Medicare is underway … Right now, lawmakers in Congress are in the process of negotiating a final reconciliation bill that will include measures to expand Medicare to cover dental, hearing and vision care and lower prescription drug costs for the American people.
As you know, there is a gaping hole in Medicare that leaves out dental, hearing and vision care. And for years, Big Pharma has dramatically raised the prices of prescription drugs.
It’s time for members of Congress to deliver to older Americans relief from punishing drug prices — and to provide them with care for their eyes, ears and teeth, which are the gateways to improved overall health.
Today, millions of seniors forgo proper dental, hearing and vision care because they simply can’t afford it. That’s because half of Medicare beneficiaries live on incomes of $29,650 or less. Yet, neglecting this basic care has profound health consequences, which ultimately harms seniors and costs Medicare even more in the long run.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and so-called “fiscal hawks” in Congress are trying to sink this important bill, while working to keep in place massive tax cuts for the wealthy.
And so we need to make it clear to every lawmaker in Washington, DC that the public wants Medicare expanded and the power of Big Pharma to be reined in by Congress. Please ensure Medicare expansion and prescription drug pricing reform remain intact in the final reconciliation bill voted on in Congress by signing our Urgent Petition today!
Sincerely,
