John, this week, San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin received life changing news that shows firsthand the power that a redemption focused, compassionate justice system could have: after forty years in prison his father David Gilbert’s sentence was commuted.
Chesa grew up with both parents in jail — he knows painfully well the toll that the system of mass incarceration and punitive justice can have on families.
In 2019, when San Franciscans overwhelmingly elected Chesa as their District Attorney, he turned that lived experience into an opportunity to transform the justice system from the inside out, dismantling the over-policing and incarceration ripping families apart.

Chesa has remained dedicated to stopping the abuses of the justice system, despite right-wing billionaire-backed attempts to stop his work. Preventing more pain for families that are victims of crimes, of sexual assault and of police and prison brutality has become his life’s work.
Please stand with Chesa to help him continue that work by signing up for a phonebank shift this week, next week and every week you can. Your calls help us reach thousands of voters and work to stop a recall campaign telling lies about justice so that special interests and police groups can buy unchecked power.
Thank you for your support,
