Friend,
Today, a bomb at Afghanistan’s airport killed U.S. service members and Afghan civilians.
This horrific attack shows that there's no time to waste: We must evacuate and shelter everyone who’s fleeing the Taliban.
This week, President Biden reaffirmed August 31st as the planned date for U.S. troops withdrawing.
It looks like we’re going to have to leave behind many thousands of Afghan allies—who face deadly retribution from the Taliban for working with us. This is an unacceptable moral failure.
Fortunately, the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) is working hard to bring at-risk Afghans to safety, including by advocating for:
-
expanding and speeding up evacuation flights
-
securing Kabul’s airport
-
creating a humanitarian corridor to ensure folks can get safely to and inside the airport for flights.
Please donate now to help the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) bring as many Afghans to safety as soon as possible!
IRAP believes that everyone should have a safe place to live and a safe way to get there.
The group transcends borders to deliver free, high-quality legal services to displaced people, no matter where they live—providing support for displaced people around the world.
After working with clients to identify common barriers to resettlement, the organization advocates for policy solutions, such as expanding the U.S. refugee admissions program.
Right now in Afghanistan, the situation is deteriorating. The Taliban have set up checkpoints and are blocking people who are trying to flee the country without certain paperwork or visas.
IRAP is disseminating the most current and accurate information possible for Afghans seeking evacuation to understand what options exist for them, quickly responding to an influx of requests for help, and providing emergency aid to clients as they are able to. It’s urgent to fund IRAP’s work right now—before the window for evacuations closes in less than a week.
Please donate now to the International Refugee Assistance Project in order to help bring Afghans to safety!
Thank you. In solidarity,
Rashida
