Miami Herald:
“Legislative leaders reveal redistricting process without mention of public hearings ”
Just as we suspected, Florida Republicans are trying to keep the public out of the state's redistricting process. Why? To make it easier for them to push through manipulated maps that will guarantee them majorities in the state legislature and Florida's U.S. House delegation.
That's not going to fly with us, John. Will you add your name to our petition by 11:59 PM tonight to prove to Republicans that the people demand public redistricting hearings in Florida and across the country?

Florida is far from the only state where GOP legislators will try to skew the redistricting process to ram through unfair maps. Two weeks ago in North Carolina, Republicans did their best to keep the public from providing input on the criteria that will be used to draw new maps.
The bottom line is it's on us to shine a light on shady behavior wherever we see it. Add your name: Demand that Republicans commit to a transparent redistricting process including public hearings.
