Dear Friend,
This is my third campaign in two years. We first made history in Nanaimo-Ladysmith in a May 2019 by-election. We kept our momentum soaring in the 2019 federal election, and I am running again this year. Representing my community in Ottawa is a great honour, and I am excited to get back to the House to keep working for my neighbours, and everyone in Canada.
In Parliament, I asked the government difficult questions about the issues that are most important in my constituency and that affect us all. What is holding leaders back from protecting our seniors and reforming long-term care? Why have we allowed housing to become unaffordable? Why do thousands of Canadians continue to die from opioid overdoses every year? What is being done to stop the climate crisis from making parts of this country unsafe to live in?
I never got a satisfactory answer to these questions. The government is moving too slowly, and we are running out of time. We need more Greens in Parliament.
Greens bring bold policy solutions that have already been shown to work globally:
- Take the profit out of long-term care, and create national standards for care and staffing levels.
- Establish stronger regulations in the housing market.
- Decriminalize personal possession of drugs and ensure a safe supply.
- End subsidies to the fossil fuel sector and invest in renewable energy.
Our policies have a clear goal: a just society, a life of dignity for all Canadians, and a just transition to a green future.
