John -- I’ve been watching Congress this week with a growing sense of frustration. It feels like they aren’t even trying to hide the fact that they don’t work for us -- they work for wealthy donors and special interests. This week nine conservative Democrats tried to kill the infrastructure bill by demanding even more cuts to a bill that was already a deep compromise. Well, progressives aren’t having it. Congresswoman Cori Bush called them on the carpet with one simple question: “St. Louis sent me to Congress to tangibly improve the lives of regular, everyday people. To my colleagues seeking to derail passage of the budget resolution: Why are you here?” Rep. Cori Bush (MO-01)
Thankfully the Progressive Caucus held firm, and the resolution passed. Now it’s headed to the Senate. Watching all of this theater, I found myself asking the same question as Cori. If you’re not here to help regular people, why are you in Congress? What is your purpose? John, if they’re not going to work for us, they have to go. We need leaders who won’t use our struggles as pawns in their political games. Those are exactly the kind of leaders Brand New Congress supports, and we need your help to get them elected. Will you pitch in $27 right now to support our critical work? If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Brand New Congress is running bold progressives all across the country. We’re challenging both Republican and Democratic incumbents with everyday people who are ready to go to D.C. and get things done. You’ll never have to wonder who our candidates are working for, John. Their actions show it. For the people, Adrienne Bell
