Friend,
On Tuesday the House voted 220-212 to move forward on the most important climate legislation in a generation.
This is huge news. As early as Monday, it was uncertain if we'd have the votes.
But a victory like this doesn't just happen, friend:
In the leadup to this vote, LCV organizers knocked over 120,000 doors, distributed almost 10,000 yard signs, and garnered support from over 4,500 businesses. We played a role in over 35 events with key Members of Congress, Biden administration officials, state and local elected officials, labor unions, environmental justice partners, and more.
All to make sure that wherever lawmakers look, they're seeing overwhelming support for action on climate now.
Friend — we have to keep this campaign going. This vote sets up a ticking clock to get the final bill passed. In the next few weeks if the oil industry is able to pick off even a few votes, the whole thing could unravel.
We still need your help. We're asking for a response from every LCV member to keep this campaign going strong. Plus, a group of donors will triple match every contribution through the end of August.

The investments Congress is setting in motion through the budget resolution and will deliver in reconciliation must cut carbon pollution by at least half by 2030 and put our nation on the path to 100% carbon-free energy powering our electricity grid and new cars, buses, and buildings by 2035 while delivering at least 40% of investment benefits to communities of color and low-income communities that have borne the brunt of fossil fuel pollution.
Our strategy for passage still hinges on keeping up the highly visible grassroots support for action in priority districts. In addition to all of the work our field organizers are doing, we're running massive paid TV and digital campaigns in the districts of members of Congress whose support we need to pass game-changing climate, justice, and jobs legislation.
As Tuesday's vote showed us — the campaign is working. Now we must keep up the pressure to make bold investments for climate justice now. Please, friend — help us keep our campaign strong by pitching in today.

It's past time for the House and Senate to deliver climate action for the people. This is only the beginning.
