Dear John,

Today is an important day. West Virginians, 'from the hood to the holler', will safely* engage in a powerful public protest during the Mass Moral Motorcade on Manchin.

The motorcade begins at 11am ET at 250 Main Street in Madison, West Virginia. We will proceed, caravan-style, to the state capitol of Charleston for a broadcast program at 2:30pm ET / 11:30am PT which will include Willie Nelson and leaders of the West Virginia Poor People's Campaign. Local participants will be able to tune into the program by radio at WSVQ 92.1 FM, and those further afield can stream online.

We demand Senator Manchin have the moral courage to end the coward’s filibuster, pass all provisions of the For the People Act, fully restore the 1965 Voting Rights Act and pass $15/hr federal minimum wage.

The Mass Moral Motorcade on Manchin draws from a long history of resistance to greed and profiteering at the expense of the poor in West Virginia. One hundred years ago this week, the Battle of Blair Mountain, the largest uprising in U.S. history took place not far from here, uniting thousands of coal miners across racial lines as they fought for fair wages, safe working conditions and a union.

Join us online today at 2:30pm ET/ 11:30am PT: action.poorpeoplescampaign.org

*Participation in the motorcade will be exclusively inside your car and does not include being in a crowd or march. We have chosen to organize a motorcade in this way in light of the surging Covid 19 cases with the Delta variant.

Forward together, not one step back!
