Abortion is far safer than giving birth 

In developed countries where abortion is legally permitted and health-care providers are trained to offer safe services, the risk of dying from an abortion procedure is less than 2 in 100,000—making it far safer than a shot of penicillin. A woman’s risk of death due to pregnancy and childbirth is nine times higher.*

People have fewer abortions when the procedure becomes more readily available 

It seems counter-intuitive, we know. This is because availability of abortion normally goes hand in hand with availability of contraception and family planning services.

Despite the false narrative that people will grow to regret their abortion over time, research consistently shows that the vast majority of people report feeling positive or no particular feelings at all about their abortion.

It’s far less political in some places outside the United States 

In some countries, like Nepal, abortion is viewed first and foremost as an essential component of women’s health care. Some public health-care systems offer the service free of charge.
