As Democrats, we’ve made incredible gains over the last few years — for common sense gun safety reform, the environment, equal rights, increased wages, and much more.

The Virginia statewide election is just over two months away, friends.

With early voting beginning three weeks from tomorrow, now’s the time to make sure your voter registration is up to date: you can check the status of your registration here, and find the online voter registration application here. The deadline is October 17, but get it done as soon as you can!

In addition to all 100 House of Delegate races, as well as local elections, three critical statewide races will be decided this November:

  • Governor: Terry McAuliffe has spent his political career working to build a 21st century economy for the Commonwealth that gives every Virginian the opportunity to thrive. He is running against the GOP’s Trump-backed, vulture-capitalist candidate — we must ensure Terry wins so he can continue to build on Democrats’ progress.

  • Lieutenant Governor: Hala Ayala, a daughter of immigrants who in 2018 defeated a 4-term Republican incumbent, was a key part of the Democratic Majority’s success in expanding Medicaid, raising teacher pay, passing the Equal Rights Amendment, and expanding background checks. Having personally worked with her, I know what a committed and determined public servant she is.

  • Attorney General: Mark Herring began serving as “the people’s lawyer” in 2014. He’s shown time and time again that he will fight for every Virginian, no matter their zip code, background, or nationality. A leader for civil rights, criminal justice reform, and gun control, he is (for the third time!) the clear choice.

As Democrats, we’ve made incredible gains over the last few years — for common sense gun safety reform, the environment, equal rights, increased wages, and much more. Chip in now to help us build on that progress and make our Commonwealth a place that works for everyone.

Unfortunately, all of that good work could be undone if we don’t defend these elected offices and our Democratic majorities.

But here’s the most important thing to remember: the only way Republicans win is if their transparent attempts at voter suppression and intimidation succeed. Instead of listening to their constituents and adapting to what Virginians want and need, they rely on tactics of fear, deception, and suppression.

If every eligible voter knows how, where, and when to cast a ballot, Democrats will win up and down the ballot. So, will you contribute to help us reach voters and make sure they understand that the future of Virginia is in their hands?
