We’re excited to invite you to the launch of UrbanShift during Climate Week NYC! UrbanShift is a global initiative working to transform cities through sustainable, integrated approaches to urban development. We engage with more than 20 cities across Asia, Africa and Latin America, bringing together local and international stakeholders to build an urban future where both people and planet can thrive.

At this event, we’ll hear from the leaders of our partner organizations on how integrated development strategies can help shape green, resilient and equitable cities. Speakers include the CEO of the Global Environment Facility, Carlos Manuel Rodríguez; Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme, Inger Anderson; and World Resources Institute President & CEO, Aniruddha Dasgupta. We’ll also hear from the mayors of two UrbanShift cities – Freetown, Sierra Leone and Ushuaia, Argentina – about the program’s role in facilitating key local interventions, from accelerated climate action to biodiversity conservation and affordable housing.

UrbanShift is funded by the Global Environment Facility’s Sustainable Cities Impact Program, led by the UN Environment Programme, and implemented in partnership with the World Resources Institute, C40 Cities, ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability, the UN Development Programme, the World Bank, and the Asian Development Bank.
