Dear John,
Labor Day is around the corner! As many of us prepare to take a break from work to spend time with family and friends, we are reminded of the work that millions of incarcerated people across the country are forced to do every day under the threat of disciplinary action.
The Thirteenth Amendment abolished slavery and involuntary servitude, except as punishment for a crime. The Abolition Amendment would abolish them for good. This Labor Day, join the movement to #EndTheException by hosting a cookout for your friends and family and telling them about the fight to end prison slavery. The first 100 people to register are eligible to receive up to a $100 to cover the cost of food and drinks for your cookout!
And don’t fret! In the coming days, you'll get The Cookout Guide to #EndTheException, which includes a short host script to help you run the show and get folks to take action! It’ll also include other fun group and individual activities that we hope you’ll post to social media with the hashtag #EndTheException.
Register now to host a cookout! We can’t wait to see your photos!
Thank you,
Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC)
