The Washington Post recently reported that governors’ races “will have grave implications for our democracy.”
And team, that’s exactly right.
While many Republican governors are working to restrict access to the ballot box and limit who can make their voices heard, Democrats are doing everything they can to uphold our democracy and ensure more citizens can have their say.
Just days after Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp signed a bill restricting voting access into law earlier this year, Gov. Murphy took action to expand voting rights in New Jersey.
And under Gov. Murphy’s leadership, we’ve expanded access to vote-by-mail, instituted automatic voter registration, and established online voter registration — all steps that will make it easier to participate in our democracy.
There’s no clearer example of the difference between Republicans’ and Democrats’ agendas, and the stakes in this race for New Jersey Governor couldn’t be higher. We cannot let Republicans and their allies win this race, undo our progress, and take our democracy backward.
With that in mind, we have to ask: Will you chip in now to support the New Jersey Democratic Party and help elect Democrats like Gov. Murphy up and down the ticket?
