Here’s the deal, John: In less than a week, we’re closing the books on our August fundraising — so let us quickly explain an important end of month goal we’re setting.

We’ve crunched the numbers, and we need to bring in 1,500 new grassroots contributions before August 31st to meet our goal. Now let us tell you why.

Mitch McConnell and Senate Republicans are only one seat away from taking back the Senate majority. That’s why it’s so important that we flip Pennsylvania blue to defend our progress. And we have a real shot at it, too. The last time this seat was up for election, Democrats narrowly lost by 1.5 points. President Biden carried the state in 2020, and now, just about every major news outlet is calling it a toss-up.

Senate Republicans have ramped up their fundraising, raising $58 million this year alone, to try to defeat strong Democrats like Val. They’re pouring money into attack ads in state after state, and Pennsylvania could be next — after all, they spared no expense in 2016.

We’ve got to keep up our fundraising to compete with the GOP’s war chest, reach voters across Pennsylvania, and prepare for any attacks that may come our way. That’s why hitting this goal before the end of the month to stay on track to report strong public numbers at the end of the quarter is so important. That’s when everyone, from voters to our opponents, will be able to see just how much momentum our grassroots campaign has built.
